Faculty members with the Global Arts Studies Program at UC Merced will present their fifth annual Faculty Concert on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Merced College, 3600 M St.
This concert is free to the public and features works from composers from around the world, including Pixinguinha, Chick Corea, Osvaldo Farrés, Roger Tallroth, Radiohead and many others.
The Global Arts Studies Program (GASP) at UC Merced provides a holistic and interdisciplinary study of the many arts practices of the world. The program provides opportunities for students to perform, present and analyze artistic practices in multiple media, and to investigate how these practices have been affected by social, political and economic structures. GASP is a unique curriculum in the University of California system because it integrates diverse subjects normally housed in different departments, including art history, musicology, performance studies and media studies.
