A research panel, project demonstrations and banquet are among the festivities planned for Engineers Week at UC Merced.
Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers in 1951, Engineers Week is "dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers."
Engineers Week, Feb. 16-22 this year, is dedicated to raising public awareness of engineers' positive contributions to quality of life and promoting the importance of a technical education and a high level of math, science and technology literacy.
On campus, the week begins with a brunch Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. A student research Q&A and alumni panel are planned for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Admin 264. Thursday's activities include a resume workshop at 9 a.m. in the Career Center and a roundtable discussion at 5 p.m. in the Conference Center ballroom, followed by a panel Friday at 2 p.m. in COB2 140 in which professors and research groups will present their work.
