Celebrating Service is UC Merced’s annual event to celebrate the loyalty of employees who have reached service milestones.
Historically, the campus honored staff who reached milestones at both the campus and system-level. This manual process has been updated to make use of reports now available through UCPath after conversations between Human Resources and Staff Assembly.
Beginning this year, staff will be honored for reaching service milestones based on their most recent date of hire at UC Merced and for their total state service as of Dec. 31, 2018. For example, an employee with who worked five years in the CSU system before joining UC Merced on Oct. 15, 2013, would be honored this year for five years of UC Merced service and 10 years of total service.
Employees will continue to receive a crystal award with milestone marker for their UC Merced service and lapel pins for their total service. Awards will be presented at the annual Celebrating Service breakfast in March. Honorees have already received an email invitation from Human Resources and a link to complete an online form to specify the preferred name they want engraved on their crystal award (if receiving one this year).
The breakfast is an intimate event with honorees being the stars of the show. The guest list is limited to award recipients and their division leaders. Direct supervisors are encouraged to submit a few words highlighting their employees’ impact during their years of service. These messages are read aloud by division leaders during the breakfast.
The event is staffed by members of the UC Merced Staff Assembly Executive Board, and staff from the Office of the Chancellor and Human Resources.
The list of employees scheduled to receive awards this year is online. If you believe you're eligible for an award and are not on the list, please email Leticia Aldama.
