Development Officer 'Comes Home' to UC Merced

When she was a young girl, development officer Terisa Rose remembers her great grandfather, a visionary, talking about a new UC campus in the

Central Valley. When UC Merced became a reality, Rose knew she was destined to be a part of it.

Raised in Dos Palos, Rose has lived in the

San JoaquinValleyall her life. Her family moved to the Valley in the 1800s and bought land that extends from UC Merced’s campus boundaries to Snelling. Her family began farming different crops until they found those best suited for the land and the climate. They became recognized as prominent almond farmers in Merced
.

Rose received her bachelor’s degree from CSU Stanislaus in business management with a concentration in human resources. During college, she gained practical experience working in the human resources department at Macy’s. Upon graduation, she worked in human resources for E. & J. Gallo Winery. After three years of commuting to
Modesto, she decided to look for a job closer to her family and her roots in

Merced.

Her friendly, easygoing spirit landed her a position on UC Merced’s
development team. As development officer for the division of
University Relations, Rose uses her previous experience and her warm, caring personality to attract external resources for the campus. A large part of her role is educating the public about the university and its mission.

Rose values the relationships she cultivates with campus donors and friends and is inspired by their generosity. Her role in matching a donor’s passion with a need on campus helps him or her create a legacy to leave for his or her family that will affect generations to come.

“It is an exciting and unique opportunity to meet wonderful people who are kind and want to make a difference,” she said. “Together, we can enhance the UC Merced experience for our students.”
