Downtown Merced was awash in blue and gold as UC Merced's Fall 2023 Commencement literally spilled into the streets. Graduate students took the stage of the Art Kamangar Center inside the Merced Theater on Friday evening. They were followed on Saturday by the graduating class from the Schools of Engineering, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences, Humanties and the Arts.
Students were cheered on by their families and friends as they received their hoods and diplomas. The celebration continued outside after the ceremony that featured keynote speeches by founding faculty member and former Exective Vice Chanceller and Provost Keith Alley and President of the American Council on Education Ted Mitchell.
At the end of the graduation cermonies, the students were welcomed to UC Merced's Alumni Association - a group that boasts over 18,000 members.
All three cermonies were streamed live on the university's website where they can be viewed or rewatched. (Click to scroll)
