Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis visited UC Merced in early June for a tour of the new Merced 2020 Project facilities and to learn more about water and agriculture concerns.
Kounalakis and UC Merced Chancellor Juan Sánchez Muñoz led a panel discussion of faculty and local leaders in the agriculture industry to discuss the needs and concerns facing the Central Valley’s growers. They were joined by U.S. Rep. Jim Costa, D-Fresno, a third-generation family farmer. The discussion was followed by a tour of phase three of the Merced 2020 Project, delivered late last summer, including classrooms, laboratories, residence halls and recreational facilities.
