National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship
Robert Puccinelli, B.S., Physics, B.S., Biological Sciences, 2014
Robert Puccinelli is a Ph.D. student in the UC Berkeley-UCSF joint program in Bioengineering. Previously, he worked with the Chan-Zuckerberg Biohub bioengineering team to build new instrumentation and automation platforms to address problems of scale for the team’s cell atlas, infectious disease and COVID-19 testing initiatives. Before that, he worked with Polly Fordyce, Ph.D., at Stanford and helped build her lab from the ground up by constructing optical, microfluidic, microarrayer systems and a GUI-based analysis software. He has a significant interest in infectious disease surveillance, pathogen detection systems and lab automation. He received bachelor’s degrees in physics and biological sciences from UC Merced in 2014.
