New Adventures Close to Home for Incoming UC Merced Student

This is part of a series of profiles of new UC Merced Bobcats enrolled for the fall 2025 semester.

Manjot Maan is a student-athlete from Modesto who will focus on academics when he starts at UC Merced this fall. The biological sciences major is looking forward to new experiences at a university that is still close to home.

Where I come from: I graduated from Central Catholic High School in Modesto.

What I've done: I earned a 3.9 GPA, I was a Valley Oak League scholar athlete two times, was second team all-league in basketball and earned honorable mention all-district in basketball.

 Why are you excited about coming to UC Merced? I am excited for the many learning opportunities that UC Merced provides.

 Academic and personal goals: I hope to grow as a person, and I also hope to do the best that I can academically.

 Favorite food: Steak

 You can keep only three apps on your phone. What are they? Instagram, TikTok, Spotify.

What do you do to relax? I play video games.
