Electrical Engineering Professor Named IEEE Life Fellow

Professor Mukesh Singhal's honor is effective Jan. 1.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has bestowed the honor of "IEEE Life Fellow" to Mukesh Singhal, professor of electrical engineering at UC Merced.

According to its website, IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization, with more than 465,000 active members worldwide. IEEE bestows this honor on individuals who have "distinguished themselves through their sustained and lasting exemplary service and contributions to the advancement of technology for the benefit of humanity."

Singhal's research interests include cloud computing and distributed computing systems, cybersecurity, cryptocurrency, blockchain, consensus algorithms, artificial intelligence and machine learning, wireless and vehicular networks, mobile computing, network security and the Internet of Things.

Singhal's honor is effective Jan. 1.
