Box – UC Merced’s cloud-hosted file sharing and storage service – is changing its look, and the new and improved version officially launches Friday, Sept. 8.
The changes offer users a more personalized web experience and includes a completely rebuilt back-end foundation. Highlights of the updated Box experience include:
- A clearer layout and simpler navigation. Users can grab their most recently used files with one click and immediately see who is accessing and editing content;
- Find content faster. With a few clicks, find what you're looking for by selecting owners, last date edited and file type; and
- View content the way you want. Users can select either a list view for quick scans or a thumbnail view for rich previews. You can also watch high definition and 360 videos right from Box without downloading, which makes it easy to experience and share immersive media just like any other file.
When Box deploys the new platform Friday, accounts for all campus users will be automatically updated. Those who prefer to immediately update their account can do so by going to the "All New Box" page. UC Merced’s Office of Information Technology recommends users begin working with the new interface. The following resources are available to help people get familiar with the new look and feel:
