July 29, 2011 </p> <p>Fourth-generation San Joaquin Valley resident Kelly Fujikawa always planned to practice medicine in the San Joaquin Valley.</p> <p>The UC Merced San Joaquin Valley Program in Medical Education will help her do just that.</p> <p>"There's no better program than the San Joaquin Valley PRIME program to train exactly where I want to work," said Fujikawa, of Fowler.</p> <p>The program represents a critical step in meeting the region's health and health care needs. UC Merced and UC Davis announced in September a partnership to begin educating medical students in the Valley. <br/> </p> </description>
