UC Merced Summer Session Scholarship Deadline Extended

June 12, 2002
Applications for Student Scholarships Accepted through June 14

Scholarships are available for qualified San Joaquin Valley students enrolling in the 2002 UC Merced Summer Session, which features a variety of courses presented at UC Merced's education and outreach centers in Merced, Fresno and Bakersfield. The application deadline for the UC Merced Chancellor's Summer Scholarship Program has been extended through June 14, 2002 for the first session of courses.

Those eligible for the scholarships include students recently admitted by the University of California and enrolling at any University of California campus this fall as freshmen or as transfer students. Scholarship recipients can enroll in one UC Merced summer course and obtain the textbooks required for that course free of charge.

Offered in collaboration with UC Davis, the third annual UC Merced Summer Session includes several courses for UC credit offered in two sessions. Students are encouraged to enroll by June 14 for Summer Session One, which begins June 21 and ends August 2. Summer Session Two runs from August 5 through September 13, with a scholarship application deadline of July 17 and a course registration deadline of July 26.

Information about the 2002 UC Merced Summer Session courses and the UC Merced Chancellor's Summer Scholarship Program, as well as application forms, are available online at www.ucmerced.edu/professional_dev/programs_students.asp.
