Merced, CA — The University of California, Merced and Merced County will hold a public hearing on Thursday, September 13 to receive public comments concerning the draft Environmental Impact Reports [EIRs] for the University Long Range Development Plan and the proposed University Community Plan. The hearing will be held at the Merced College Theater, 3000 M Street in Merced, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The EIRs were released to various federal and state regulatory agencies for review on August 13, 2001. In addition, the EIRs were also made available to the public at repositories in Sacramento, Merced, and Los Banos, and the documents were made available on CD-ROM to interested parties. The documents are posted on the web site www.ucmercedplanning.net.
The California Environmental Quality Act provides for public review of the draft EIRs for a 45-day period, which ends at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2001.
All persons interested in this public hearing are cordially invited to attend. For those who cannot attend, written comments are encouraged, and should be sent to the following addresses:
