Jan. 10 Mental Health Training Aims to Inform, Equip

December 21, 2017

Mental health is critical to overall health and well-being. At UC Merced, we are committed to equipping staff and faulty to support their students and peers. Though mental health services are available to students, faculty and staff, we understand that not everyone thinks to seek out such services when in need. Often, they approach someone they trust. With so many people moving to Merced specifically to work or attend the university, that trusted individual is most likely a colleague, an instructor, a mentor or someone on campus with whom they have regular contact.

Health Promotion, in partnership with several campus and community sponsors, is hosting an informational training session for faculty and staff at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, in COB 102.

This two-hour session will feature a speaker from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), as well as presentations from Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and Human Resources that explain the mental health services and benefits that exist for students and employees on campus, in the community and through telehealth agreements with the university.

Please RSVP today and help us to create a culture where everyone on campus knows where to go when mental illness either affect them or someone close to them. Refreshments will be provided by the Healthy Campus Network.
