The University of California, Merced, continues to pave the way to success for local high school students. The campus announced the expansion of the Merced Automatic Admission Program (MAAP) for students at Dinuba Unified School District (DUSD).

The new partnership will allow students with a weighted GPA of 3.5 with no grade lower than a “C” to be automatically admitted to UC Merced through a streamlined admissions process.

This is the second partnership between the university and a school district in the Central Valley — the first was with Merced Union High School District (MUHSD).

UC Merced’s Director of Admissions Dustin Noji said this second signing indicates the campus' strong commitment to allowing every student to attend a four-year university.

“My family is from Dinuba, so to be able to offer this opportunity to more Valley students is extremely special,” he said.

Information from the first cohort of MUHSD indicates 202 students applied for the program. Of those who applied, 169 students were eligible and 114 of them submitted their UC applications and were admitted to the campus.

Students are asked to submit their applications by July 30 after they complete their junior years of high school. They will be notified to submit their UC applications by Nov. 30. Program participants will be prioritized in the application review process and notified of their admissions in early March.
